You were lazy. You weren't proud of it either. You would always tell yourself that you would do something, but when the time came to do it you procrastinated and never got it done. And because you were lazy, you were out of shape.
Your neighbor, however, was very athletic. He was pretty hot too! He had blonde hair that he always slicked back, dark, blue eyes, and he was German. When he went out jogging, which was almost everyday, he wore a black wife beater and green pants with combat boots. Super sexy!
You two never really talked a lot. Once in a while you two would be outside at the same time and there would be the "Hi how are you?" and then the "Fine." That was about it.
Today you were going to try to have a conversation with him. You would NOT procrastinate this time. You walked outside and onto your porch and saw him tying up his boots. You stepped off your porch and walked up to him and he looked up at you.
"Good morning Mr. Beilschmidt," you said cheerfully.
"Guten morgen, _______. You're up a bit early zis morning," he said as he finished tying his boots.
"Yea, about that..." you said, running your fingers through you (h/l) (h/c) hair.
"I was wondering, where you go everyday when you go jogging? I notice you head the same way every time. I'm not trying to be nosy or anything, just curious," you asked.
You talked a lot for a such a lazy person.
"I go to zat huge park viz ze really long valking trail," he told you.
Man, that accent.
"Do you walk the whole thing?" you asked in amazement.
"Nein, I run ze vole zing," he said and started to walk to the sidewalk.
You put your hand on his shoulder. He whipped around and glared intently at you.
"Vat do you vant?" he asked briskly.
You quickly took your hand off his shoulder.
"Uh, um, I was wondering if I could go with you," you asked sheepishly.
That came out of nowhere. His face softened and he chuckled.
"Vell, of course you can! I vouldnt mind being seen jogging around viz a pretty girl like you," he said and your heart stopped temporarily.
You looked up at him, gazing into his gorgeous, blue eyes.
"Y-you think I'm pretty?" you asked in shock.
"Ja. A little out of shape, but ve can vork on zat," he smiled sweetly at you.
"But you must do somezing for me," he said.
"What?"
"You must go und change your clothes. It is not a fashion trail, it is a jogging trail," he took your hand and led you to your door.
"Do you want to come in? It's a mess, but I don't think I have anything feminine laying around," you offered.
"Unly of you fell comfortable viz me being inside you house," he said and held the door open for you.
You stepped in with him right behind you and he let the door close behind him. He looked around in disgrace.
"Zis place is disgusting!" he exclaimed.
You laughed nervously
"I warned you," you said
"But I didn't zink you meant it vas zis bad. You need to clean zis place up."
"I'm sorry. I'm lazy. I never get anything done."
"Does zis mean I have to walk slow viz you?"
you looked down, embarrassed.
"Yes."
He put a hand on your shoulder.
"Zere is no reason to be ashamed of yourself. You finally got yourself up und you vill be getting active. Good for you!" he said and patted you on the back. "Now go get changed."
"Oh yeah!" you remembered and ran to your room.
Once you were there, you had like a super spaz attack. You started squealing and laughing. He called you pretty! It wasn't much, but it was a sign. Then you remembered that he was waiting for you. You found your cute black running shorts. You'd been waiting a long time to wear these babys. And they fit! Then you found a (f/c) tank top and black running shoes. Once you looked acceptable, you messed with your (h/l) hair for a bit until it looked good and stepped outside and he was standing there waiting for you. He had a strange look on his face.
"Vere you ok in zere?" he asked. "You vere making a bunch of weird noises und it vas scaring me."
"Oh, sorry. I'm ok. Are we ready to go?" you asked.
"Ja ve are. You look sexy in your vorkout clothes, _______," he told you.
Your brain stopped working momentarily then it snapped back into action.
"Uh, thanks. You're looking pretty good yourself," you replied.
"Zank you. Shall ve be getting on our vay?"
"yes we should," you agreed and you both walked out the door together.
When you reached the sidewalk, you just walked along for a little bit. You made some small talk, mainly just to hear his accent, but you really did enjoy his company and what he had to say. You hadn't walked this long in years and your legs didn't hurt at all! It must be his company keeping your ind off the work. The park was about 2 miles away from where you lived. Before you two entered the park, he asked you a question.
"Are you ok to go on, _______?" he asked
"Yup. Good to go Mr. Beilschmidt," you replied enthusiastically.
"Please, call me Ludvig," he told you.
"Ludwig?"
"Ja."
"oh, ok."
Once that was established, you jogged into the park. It was a very nice park, green grass, nice, shady trees, no dog poop on the sidewalk, even the people you passed were friendly.
"I see why you come here everyday, Ludwig. Its so perfect," you said as you looked at your surroundings.
"Ja...I love it here. Its ze only vay I can get some peace und quiet. No annoying people, no vorries in ze vorld, I vas just zinking ze ozer day zat ze only zing zat could make things even better is if I had someone to share zis viz," he said, kind of off in his own little world.
"Did you have someone in mind?" you asked.
You would die if he said your name.
"Vell, I don't really have any friends, active ones anyvay, so no one comes to mind. Zen you came along und asked und it vas perfect," he said gazing deep into your (e/c) eyes.
"You could've asked me before asked me before. I would've went with you," you told him.
"I zought about it, but ve didn't really know each ozer very well und I rarely ever see you outside. I zought asking you would be vorthless und a waste of my time," he said and as soon as the last part left his lips he clamped his hand over his mouth and he looked at you.
You were taken back by his words. They kind of offended you and he realized it too.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't mean it zat vay! Vat I meant to say vas..." he saw your eyes.
They were watering a little bit, but you didn't know why. You really weren't that hurt by what he said, but it caught his attention so you weren't going to say anything. You just stared at him.
"I vill stop talking now," he said.
He continued to walk silently. You walked next to him, also silently, trying your hardest not to look up at him, so you occupied yourself by staring at the leaves swaying on the branches of the trees.
You passed some people, but neither you or Ludwig acknowledged them. You both walked in complete silence for a while when you came to an almost completely covered part of the path where no people were. As you were walking, you looked around at the trees. There was light poking through their canopy and spotting the ground. It was the most beautiful thing you had seen in a while. You heard Ludwig sigh and all of a sudden he stopped in front of you and turned. He put his hands on your shoulders and looked into your (e/c) eyes.
"_______, please don't be mad at me. I'm sorry zat I said zat. I didn't mean to say it. I see zat what I said offended you und I am sorry. I can't say it enough times, I am sorry. You are beautiful und Ich liebe dich," he said and clamped his mouth shut again.
Apparently he wasn't planning on saying that last part. You didn't know a lot of words in the German language, but you knew what that meant. (You learned it so that when the day that you confess your love for him, you could impress him by saying it in his native tongue. So cliché.)
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say zat last part," he said and looked away to hide his rapidly blushing face.
"Ludwig," you said and he turned his head to look at you. "Even though you didn't mean to say it, do you mean it?"
He nodded his head slowly and you smiled. A small smile slowly made its way to his face.
"Does zis mean you're not angry at me anymore?" he asked.
"I was never angry at you," you said and threw your arms around his neck.
His relieved sigh quickly transformed into one of pure bliss as he put his arms around you as well. You felt him plant a kiss on your head and you giggled. Then you realized how much your legs hurt from all the jogging. You felt your calves tensing up and it was hard to stay standing. You grabbed Ludwig's arm to keep from falling.
"_______, are you ok!?" Ludwig exclaimed as he put his hands on your sides to keep you steady.
"I don't know. My calves feel like they're on fire and I'm having trouble staying up straight," you told him.
All of a sudden you were being picked up and slung over Ludwig's shoulder.
"It vill be ok. I'll carry you back to your house!" he said and took off running back towards the sidewalk that led home.
The ride was kind of bumpy, but it was still really fun! You could tell Ludwig was enjoying it too. You were amazed at how long he could run with you like that at the speed he was going. Before long, you were almost to your house and Ludwig was sweating buckets, so you told him to put you down. After he caught his breath you decided to return the favor.
"Hey Ludwig," you said.
"Ja?" he panted.
"I want to give you a piggy-back ride the rest of the way."
"Vat? Nein, I'm too heavy for you to carry. I'll break your back."
"You underestimate me." Ludwig shrugged.
"If you insist," he said nervously.
"I do."
You turned around and hunched over and he climbed onto your back. He wasn't near as heavy as you thought he was going to be. You started walking at a steady pace and in about 20 minutes, you were making your way to your front door. You let him down.
"See? I told you I could do it," you bragged, realizing you didn't even break a sweat.
"Vell, I guess I did underestimate you after all. Can ve go inside?"
"Yes, lets do," you said and unlocked your door.
The air conditioning felt so good on your bodies as you opened the door. You two made it o the living room and both crashed onto your couch, heads right next to each other.
"Vat time is it?" he asked.
You glanced at your clock.
"2:52," you answered.
"Ve still have all day. Vat should we do?"
"Wanna...help me clean my house?" you asked playfully.
Ludwig smiled.
"Sure!"
